WHEREAS, John B.W. Jack Corey has compiled an enviable and outstanding record of public service that includes 29 years with the United States Army 1934-1962 and 23
years with the City ofChicago 1962-1985; and WHEREAS, John Corey attained the rank of Colonel in the U. S. Army and served with distinction with the Army Corps of Engineers; and WHEREAS, The executive-level positions he has held in City Government include Deputy Commissioner, Department of Public Works 1965-1968; Chief Water Engineer, Department of Water and Sewers 1970-1980 and Commissioner of the newly-created Department of Water from 1980 until his retirement from City service on August 30, 1985;
and WHEREAS, John Corey is a member of various professional societies, such as the American Society of Civil Engineers; American Water Works Association; and as Diplomate, American Academy of Environmental Engineers; and WHEREAS, John Corey is a director of a number of major civic and service organizations, such as the American Red Cross, American Cancer Society and United Service Organization USO; now, therefore, Be It Resolued, That the Mayor and the City Council assembled here on this 11th day of September, 1985, do hereby take this occasion to commend John B. W. Corey for his service to the people of this City, and to issue its formal "Thank You" for his dedication to duty, honor. City md Country; and Be It Further Resolued, That a suitable copy of this resolution be prepared and presented to the Corey Family.
Alderman Frost moved to Suspend the Rules Temporarily to permit immediate consideration of and action upon the foregoing proposed resolution. The motion Preuailed.
On motion of Alderman Frost, seconded by Aldermen Mell, Pucinski, N a t a r u s , D. Davis and Smith, the foregoing proposed resolution was Adopted, unanimously.
Mayor Washington then thanked Mr. Corey for a "job well done".

TRIBUTE TO MR. LARRY CALEB.
Honorable Harold Washington, Mayor, on behalf of himself and all the members of the City Council, presented the following proposed resolution:
WHEREAS, On September 1, 1985,.Larry Caleb was killed by a C.T.A. train while in pursuit of two men who had snatched an elderly womans purse from a fast food establishment for which Caleb worked; and
