TRIAL EXAMINER

An application having been duly filed with this Commission, pursuant to Section 13 a of the Public Utility Holding Com pany Act of 1935, by United Cities Utilities Company, a reg istered holding company, for such exemption as to certain transactions as would allow the applicant to pro-rate equitably among its subsidiary companies a portion or all of its actual and necessary costs in management and other services per formed for said subsidiary companies, the exemption being requested on the ground that such transactions involve special or unusual circumstances and that such exemption would be in the public interest ;
It is ordered that the matter be set down for hearing on July 24, 1936, at 10:00 oclock in the forenoon of that day, at Room 110Insecurities and Exchange Building, 1778 Penn sylvania Avenue NW., Washington, D. C.; and I t is further ordered that Robert P. Reeder, an officer of the Commission, be and he hereby is designated to preside at such hearing, and authorized to adjourn said hearing from time to time, to administer oaths and affirmations, subpoena witnesses, compel their attendance, take evidence, and re quire the production of any books, papers, correspondence, memoranda, or other records deemed relevant or material to the inquiry, and to perform all other duties in connection therewith authorized by law; and It is further orderer that any interested state, state com mission, state securities commission, municipality, or other political subdivision of a state, or any representative of inter ested consumers or security holders, or any other person desiring to be admitted as a party in this proceeding or to offer evidence in this matter, shall give notice of such in tention to the Commission, such notice to be received by the Commission not later than July 20, 1936.

Upon the completion o f the taking o f testimony in this matter, the officer conducting said hearing is directed to close the hearing and make his report to the Commission.
