On December 8, 1951, notice was first published in the F ederal R egister 16
P. R. 123992 regarding proposed United States Standards for Grades of Swiss Cheese. As a result of the widespread interest in the proposed standards and the many comirients and suggestions re ceived, the proposed standards were re vised and again published as a proposed rule making on November 13, 1952 17
P. R. .10386 .8 After consideration of all relevant matters presented, including the proposals in the aforesaid notices, the following United States Standards for Grades of Swiss Cheese are hereby promulgated pursuant to the authority contained in the Agricultural Marketing Act 1946 60 Stat. 1087; 7 U. S. C. 1621
et seq..
The promulgation of these standards will provide the Department with Swiss cheese standards for use in connection with its grading and inspection service and purchases of Swiss cheese, and will make available official standards for uSe by the dairy industry.
The standards are as follows:
