WHEREAS, The team is coached by Frank Lent! aid assisted by coaches Jim Carroll, Bob Padjen, Tom Sulo, Pete Kammhos, Brian Pearson, Tom McCann, Dave Lenti, Curt Ehrenstrom, Chuck Hatfield, Frank Kiszka, Joe Zuebeck, and trainer Nick Colletti; and WHEREAS, Team members of the Caravans include: Melvin Johnson, Tom Philbin, Mike Danki, Eric Gronowski, Chris Calloway, John Furjanic, Dave Morgan, Darrell Richardson, Jim Rizzo, John Moran, Pete Kalianis, Jim LaMantia, Bill Nolan, Mike Schnolis, Mike Golden, Brandon Woodard, De Mar White, Calvin Boyer, Curtis McKinney, Jim Dorans, Brendan OConnell, Pat Haavig, Jeff Devine, Lance Bonner, James Washington, Lou Chacon, Marc Dobbins, Terry Ward, John Sawicki, Dan Zurek, Jim Goodman, Mike Simon, Mike Murray, Tom Mullen, Bryan Mack, Scott McCabe, Rick Cronin, Kevin Quandt, Cole Stallard, John Pope, Jonas Kujawa, Jon Prove, Junior Guerra, Tino McCabe, Eric Saucedo, Mike Blake, Eric Woods, Mike Ploszha, Tim Winiczay, Ardrell Mannings, Brian Hopkins, JefT Gabrione, Chris White, Tom Harkenrider, Mike Walsh, Nate Turner, Daron Williams, Pete Kelly, Mike Dilger and Mickey Ivezic; and WHEREAS, Moimt Carmel High School represented the Catholic League in the 52nd Annual Prep Bowl by edging out Lane Technical High School by a score of 19-14 on Sattirday, November 30,1985; and WHEREAS, Mount Carmel improved its Irep Bowl record to 8-2-1, including victories in 1981,1983, and 1985; now, therefore, Be It Resolved, That the Mayor and the members of the City Council of Chicago assembled here this 4th day of December, 1985, do hereby commend the Caravans, the faculty, staff and students of Mount Carmel High School for producing and supporting an exceptional team of champions; and Be It Further Resolved, That a suitable copy of this resolution be prepared and presented to the Mount Carmel High School Caravsuis.
Alderman Kelley moved to Suspend the Rules Temporarily to permit immediate consideration of and action upon the foregoing proposed resolution. The motion Prevailed.
On motion of Alderman Kelley, seconded by Alderman Sheahan and Alderman Burke, the foregoing proposed resolution was Adopted, unanimously.
At this point in the proceedings. Mayor Washington invited the Mount Carmel "Caravan"
coaches and players to the rostrum. Noting their previous Prep Bowl Championships in 1981
and 1983, Mayor Washington presented the "Caravan" with a plaque and each player with a certificate honoring their victory in the 1985 Prep Bowl Championship game.
Coach Frank Lenti, standing in for Father Robert Carroll, Principal of Mount Carmel, then thanked the Mayor and City Council for the honor conferred upon them. Coach Lenti also expressed the teams pride in being the representatives of the Chicago Catholic League and in gaining the 1985 Prep Bowl Championship.
Mayor Washington concluded the presentation ceremonies by lauding Mount Carmel as a wonderful institution that has brought fame and glory to the City of Chicago.
