WHEREAS, Mrs. Meyer served DePaul University selflessly with vigor amd vitality;
amd WHEREAS, Mrs. Meyer was the unofficial top assistant to Mr. Meyer and served as his right hand throughout his coaching caireer at DePaul; amd WHEREAS, The memory of Mrs. Meyer will continue to flourish in all our heairts amd minds; now, therefore.
Be It Resolved, That the Mayor and the City Council assembled here on this 15th day of August, 1985, do hereby recognize the many contributions Mrs. Mairge Meyer made to her husband, family, DePaul University and Chicago; amd Be It Further Resolved, That a suitable copy of this resolution be prepared and presented to the Meyer family.
Aldermam Hansen moved to Suspend tfie Rules Temporarily to permit immediate consideration ofand action upon the foregoing proposed resolution. The motion Prevailed.
On motion of Alderman Hansen, the foregoing proposed resolution was Adopted, imamimously, by a rising vote.
CONGRATULATIONS EXTENDED TO COACH GARY PECKLER AND U.S.A.
MACCABIH ALL-STAR BASKETBALL TEAxM ON WINNING
INTERNATIONAL TOURNAMENT SILVER MEDAL.
Honorable Hairold Washington, Mayor, on behalf of himself amd all the members ofthe City Council, presented the following proposed resolution:
WHEREAS, The Chicago Maccabih All-Star Basketball Team was invited by the Elitzur Club to participate in the 1985 International Junior Maccabih Basketball Tournament held in Tel-Aviv, Israel; amd WHEREAS, The U.S.A. Maccabih All-Stars, representing the City of Chicago and the nation, departed for Israel on July 20,1985; amd WHEREAS, The team won their first game against the tournament sponsor, Elitzur, by 85-54, went to the second round competition amd again emerged victorious when they defeated Hatikvah 79-70; and WHEREAS, Following these two victories, the team qualified for the championship game but lost that battle to the Tel-Aviv Maccabih team, placing 2nd in the tournament;
amd WHEREAS, This home town team, coached by Gary Peckler, won the silver medal for being the 2nd place team in the 1985 International Junior Maccabih Basketball Tournament; and
