WHEREAS, Mr. Talbott was an ex-boxer, vaudeville performer as well as a newspaper reporter and rewrite man for the Hearst Herald and Examiner Newspapers from the 1920s through his retirement in 1969; and WHEREAS, He also worked as a reporter for the Chicago City News Bureau and the Chicago Evening American newspaper; and WHEREAS, Mr. Talbott is survived by his wife, Mae, two sons, one of whom is Chicago Sun Times political editor Basil Talbott Jr., two grandchildren and two sisters; now, therefore, Be It Resolued, That the Mayor and the members ofthe City Council assembled here this 6th day of November, 1985, do hereby recognize the illustrious career and outstanding journalistic contributions of Basil "Gus" Talbott; and Be It Further Resolued, That a suitable copy of this resolution be prepared and presented to the family of Mr. Talbott.
Alderman Bloom moved to Suspend the Rules Temporarily to permit immediate consideration of and action upon the foregoing proposed resolution. The motion Preuailed.
On motion of Alderman Bloom, seconded by Alderman Pucinski, the foregoing proposed resolution was Adopted, unanimously, by a rising vote.

CONGRATULATIONS EXTENDED TO MS. MARGARET
DIFFENDERFFER ON HER RETIREMENT.
Honorable Harold Washington, Mayor, on behalf of himself and all the members ofthe City Council, presented the following proposed resolution:
WHEREAS, Margaret DifTenderffer, a longtime resident of Harwood Heights, Illinois has established herself as a landmark secretary for over twenty years at Saint Cornelius School located in the 45th Ward; and WHEREAS, Margaret in her duties as secretary took on the task of not only keeping the office in perfect working order, but also served as a faithful guardian to the children and thoughtful adviser to their parents; and WHEREAS, Margaret attends all school functions above and beyond her duties as secretary and selfiessly devotes many hours to faculty, parents and students; and WHEREAS, Margarets responsible character has instilled family pride, civic responsibility and compassion for ones own fellow man through her efforts at Saint Cornelius Parish; now, therefore, Be It Resolved, That we, the Mayor and members of the City Council of the City of Chicago, gathered here this 6th day of November, 1985, A.D., do hereby congratulate and
