STRICT GOOD MIDDLING AMERICAN UPLAND
COTTON STANDARD
On July 11, 1956, a notice of proposed rule making was published in the F ederal R egister 21 F. R. 5141 regarding the proposed promulgation of a descriptive grade standard for Strict Good Middling White American upland cotton, pur suant to authority contained in section 6 of the United States Cotton Standards Act as amended 42 Stat. 1518; 7 U. S. C.
56 and in section 4854 of the Internal Revenue Code of 1954 68A Stat. 580;
26 U. S. C. 4854.
After consideration of all relevant matters presented pursuant to the notice, the official cotton standards of the United States for the grade of American upland cotton, also referred to as the Universal Standards for American Cot ton, 7 CFR Part 27, Subpart B , are hereby amended, effective August 1, 1957, by inserting a new 27.150 to read as follows;
27.150 Strict Good Middling. Strict Good .Middling shall be American upland cotton which in color, leaf, and prepara tion is better than Good Middling.
