The President EXECUTIVE ORDER
E x c u s in g F ederal E m p l o y e e s F ro m D u t y o n D ecember 23 and 30, 1939
By virtue of the authority vested in me as President of the United States, it is hereby ordered as follows:
1. The several Executive departments, independent establishments, arid other governmental agencies in the District of Columbia, including the Government Printing Office and the Navy Yard and Naval Stations, shall be closed all day on Saturday, December 23, 1939, and all day on Saturday, December 30,1939; and all employees in the Federal service in the District of Columbia, and in the field service of the Executive departments1
, in dependent establishments, and other agencies of the Government, except those who may for special public reasons be excluded from the provisions of this or der by the heads of their respective de partments, establishments, or agencies, or those whose absence from duty would be inconsistent with the provisions of ex isting law, shall be excused from duty on those days.
2. This order shall be published in the F ederal R e g ister .
