The following adjustments have been made to the burden estimates. In 2019, the Department estimated a combined total of 1,758 respondents and 123,060
burden hours. The updated burden estimates have changed due to the Coronavirus AID Relief and Economic Security Act, the American Rescue Plan Act as well as the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act.

Total Annual Burden: 205,520.

AGENCY:
In compliance with the Paperwork Reduction Act PRA of 1995, this notice announces that the Veterans Benefits Administration VBA, Department of Veterans Affairs, will submit the collection of information abstracted below to the Office of Management and Budget OMB for review and comment. The PRA submission describes the nature of the information collection and its expected cost and burden and it includes the actual data collection instrument.

Title: VA Form 21P601, Application for Accrued Amounts Due a Deceased Beneficiary.
OMB Control Number: 29000216.
Type of Review: Revision of a currently approved collection.
Abstract: VA Form 21P601 is used to gather the information necessary to determine a claimants entitlement to accrued benefits. Accrued benefits are amounts of VA benefits due, but unpaid, to a beneficiary at the time of his or her death. Benefits are paid to eligible survivors based on the priority described in 38 U.S.C. 5121a. When there are no eligible survivors entitled to accrued benefits based on their relationship to the deceased beneficiary, the person or persons who bore the expenses of the beneficiarys last illness and burial may claim reimbursement for these expenses from accrued amounts.
No changes have been made to this form. The respondent burden has decreased due to the estimated number of receivables averaged over the past year.
An agency may not conduct or sponsor, and a person is not required to respond to a collection of information unless it displays a currently valid OMB
control number. The Federal Register Notice with a 60-day comment period soliciting comments on this collection of information was published at 87 FR
17140 on March 25, 2022, page 17140.
