On August 18, 1955, a notice of pro posed rule making was published in the F ederal R egister 20 F. R. 6024 regard ing a proposed revision of United States Standards for Florida Oranges.
After consideration of all relevant matters presented, including the pro posal set forth in the aforesaid notice, the following United States Standards for Florida Oranges and Tangelos are hereby promulgated pursuant to the au thority contained in the Agricultural Marketing Act of 1946 60 Stat. 1087
et seq., 7 U. S. C. 1621 et seq..

The standards contained in this subpart apply only to the common or sweet orange group and varieties belonging to the Mandarin group, except tangerines, and to the citrus fruit commonly known as tangelo a hybrid between tangerine or mandarin orange citrus reticulata with either the grapefruit or pummelo C.
paradisi and C. grandis. Separate U. S. Standards apply to tangerines.
The standards for internal quality con tained in 51.1183 through 51.1186 ap ply only to common sweet oranges citrus sinensis L osbeck.
