j Alternative Methods of Compliance AMOCs
Comply with this AD within the compliance times specified, unless already done.
1 The Manager, International Validation Branch, FAA, has the authority to approve AMOCs for this AD, if requested using the procedures found in 14 CFR 39.19. In accordance with 14 CFR 39.19, send your request to your principal inspector or local Flight Standards District Office, as appropriate. If sending information directly to the manager of the International Validation Branch, send it to the attention of the person identified in paragraph k of this AD.
Information may be emailed to: 9-AVS-AIR730-AMOC@faa.gov.
2 Before using any approved AMOC, notify your appropriate principal inspector, or lacking a principal inspector, the manager of the local flight standards district office/
certificate holding district office.

e Unsafe Condition This AD was prompted by reports of abnormal play on the collective torque tube on two Model AW119 MKII helicopters. The FAA is issuing this AD to address abnormal play on the collective torque tube, which could result in reduced control of the helicopter, resulting in a forced landing and consequent damage to the helicopter and injury to occupants.

Although the service information referenced in EASA AD 20210096 specifies to submit certain information to the manufacturer, this AD does not include that requirement.
1 Where EASA AD 20210096 refers to flight hours FH, this AD requires using hours time-in-service TIS.
2 Where EASA AD 20210096 refers to its effective date, this AD requires using the effective date of this AD.
3 Where paragraphs 1 and 2 of EASA
AD 20210096 specify the compliance times for Group 1 helicopters to inspect the affected part, this AD requires an initial inspection within 50 hours TIS after the effective date of this AD, and thereafter at intervals not to exceed 100 hours TIS.
4 Where paragraph 5 of EASA AD 2021
0096 specifies, for Group 1 helicopters, replacement of an affected part with a serviceable part within 36 months after April 3, 2019 the effective date of EASA AD
20190057, for this AD, that replacement must be done within 24 months after the effective date of this AD.
5 Where the service information referenced in EASA AD 20210096 specifies to return a torque tube assembly to the manufacturer, this AD does not include that requirement.
6 Where the service information referenced in EASA AD 20210096 specifies to contact the manufacturer in case of doubt regarding the batch number on a torque tube assembly, determining the batch number is required by this AD but contacting the manufacturer is not required.
7 This AD does not mandate compliance with the Remarks section of EASA AD
20210096.

Airworthiness Directives; Airbus Helicopters Federal Aviation Administration FAA, DOT.
ACTION: Final rule.
AGENCY:
The FAA is adopting a new airworthiness directive AD for Airbus Helicopters Model EC 155B and EC155B1 helicopters. This AD was prompted by the failure of a main gearbox MGB second stage planet gear.
This AD requires replacing the MGB, or as an alternative, replacing the epicyclic reduction gear module for certain serial numbered planet gear assemblies installed on the MGB. This AD also requires inspecting the MGB magnetic plugs and MGB filter for particles, and for certain serial-numbered planet gear assemblies, inspecting the oil sump for particles. Depending on the outcome of these inspections, this AD requires further inspections and replacing certain parts. This AD also prohibits installing certain parts. The FAA is issuing this AD to address the unsafe condition on these products.
DATES: This AD is effective January 3, 2022.
