e Reason This AD was prompted by a quality control review, which determined that the wrong aluminum alloy was used to manufacture several structural parts and by the issuance of an updated list of suspected parts, including those that may have been improperly heat treated. The FAA is issuing this AD to address structural parts that may not meet the certified life limit, which could result in failure of the flap trailing edge and reduced controllability of the airplane.
f Compliance Comply with this AD within the compliance times specified, unless already done.
g Requirements Except as specified in paragraph h of this AD: Comply with all required actions and compliance times specified in, and in accordance with, European Union Aviation Safety Agency EASA AD 20200174, dated August 5, 2020 EASA AD 20200174.
h Exceptions to EASA AD 20200174
1 Where EASA AD 20200174 refers to its effective date, this AD requires using the effective date of this AD.
2 The Remarks section of EASA AD
20200174 does not apply to this AD.
3 Where paragraphs 7 and 8 of EASA
AD 20200174 mandate a parts installation limitation, this AD requires the following parts installation limitation: From the effective date of this AD, only serviceable parts as defined in EASA AD 20200174 are allowed to be installed on any airplane.
4 Where any service information referenced in EASA AD 20200174 specifies reporting, this AD requires reporting all inspection results at the applicable time specified in paragraph h4i or ii of this AD. If operators have reported findings as part of obtaining any corrective actions approved by Airbus SASs EASA Design Organization Approval DOA, operators are not required to report those findings as specified in this paragraph.
i If the inspection was done on or after the effective date of this AD: Submit the report within 30 days after the inspection.
ii If the inspection was done before the effective date of this AD: Submit the report within 90 days after the effective date of this AD.

Any substitutions or changes to procedures or tests identified as RC require approval of an AMOC.
