Nominal lamp watts means the wattage at which a fluorescent lamp is designed to operate. 42 U.S.C. 629129H.
2 The standards described in paragraph n1 of this section do not apply to:
i Any 4-foot medium bipin lamp or 2-foot U-shaped lamp with a rated wattage less than 28 watts;
ii Any 8-foot high output lamp not defined in ANSI C78.81 incorporated
by reference; see 430.3 or related supplements, or not 0.800 nominal amperes; or iii Any 8-foot slimline lamp not defined in ANSI C78.3 incorporated by reference; see 430.3.
3 Each of the following general service fluorescent lamps manufactured
on or after January 26, 2018, shall meet or exceed the following lamp efficacy standards shown in the table:

4-foot miniature bipin high output lamps straight-shaped lamp with miniature bipin base, nominal overall length between 45 and 48 inches, and rated wattage of 44 or more.
Rated wattage is defined with respect to fluorescent lamps and general service fluorescent lamps in 430.2.
