Final rule.
The FAA is superseding Airworthiness Directive AD 201903
12 for certain Airbus Helicopters Model EC225LP helicopters. AD 20190312
required repetitively inspecting, cleaning, and lubricating each life raft inflation cylinder percussion system bellcrank bellcrank. This new AD
continues to require the actions specified in AD 20190312, and requires replacing any affected bellcrank with a serviceable bellcrank, which terminates the repetitive actions. This AD was prompted by reports of jammed bellcranks in the life raft jettison inflation cylinder percussion system.
The actions of this AD are intended to address an unsafe condition on these products.

SUPPLEMENTARY INFORMATION:
Background The EASA, which is the Technical Agent for the Member States of the European Union, has issued EASA AD
20190287, dated November 27, 2019
EASA AD 20190287 also referred to as the Mandatory Continuing Airworthiness Information, or the MCAI, to correct an unsafe condition for certain Airbus Helicopters Model EC225LP helicopters. EASA AD 2019
0287 supersedes EASA AD 20190102, dated May 9, 2019. EASA AD 2019
0102, dated May 9, 2019, superseded EASA AD 20160200, dated October 11, 2016, which prompted FAA AD 2019
0312, Amendment 3919564 84 FR
8250, March 7, 2019 AD 20190312.
You may examine the MCAI in the AD
docket on the internet at https
www.regulations.gov by searching for and locating Docket No. FAA2021
0020.
The FAA issued a notice of proposed rulemaking NPRM to amend 14 CFR
part 39 to supersede AD 20190312.
AD 20190312 applied to certain Airbus Helicopters Model EC225LP
helicopters. The NPRM published in the Federal Register on February 26, 2021
86 FR 11659. The NPRM was prompted by reports of jammed bellcranks in the life raft inflation cylinder percussion system. The NPRM
proposed to continue to require the actions specified in AD 20190312, and to require replacing any affected bellcrank with a serviceable bellcrank, which would terminate the repetitive actions. The FAA is issuing this AD to address jammed bellcranks in the life raft jettison inflation cylinder percussion system. This condition could result in failure of a life raft to release in an emergency and subsequent injury to occupants. See the MCAI for additional background information.
Discussion of Final Airworthiness Directive Comments The FAA gave the public the opportunity to participate in developing this final rule, but the FAA did not receive any comments on the NPRM or on the determination of the cost to the public.
Conclusion The FAA reviewed the relevant data and determined that air safety and the public interest require adopting this final rule as proposed, except for minor
