By virtue of the authority vested in me by the Constitution and the laws of the United States, including the Canal Zone Code, approved June 19, 1934, as amended, and as President of the United States, Executive Order No. 9746 of July 1, 1946 11 F. R. 7329, relating to the Panama Canal and the Canal Zone, is hereby amended as follows:
1. Paragraphs 1 to 6, inclusive, thereof are renumbered as paragraphs 3 to 8, inclusive, and two new paragraphs, num bered 1 and 2, and reading as follows, are inserted immediately after the preamble of the said order:
1. The Secretary of the Army is hereby designated, pursuant to Canal Zone Code, title 2, section 5, as amended by section 1 of the act of September 6, 1950, 64 Stat. 1038, as the officer of the United States to supervise the adminis tration of the Canal Zone Government by the Governor of the Canal Zone.
2. The organization of the Canal Zone Government shall include a Lieutenant Governor of the Canal Zone, who 1
