PROCLAMATION

WHEREAS section 3228 f of the Internal Revenue Code provides in part as follows:
Opiate. The word opiater as used in this part and subchapter A of chapter 23
shall mean any drug as defined in the Federal Food, Drug and Cosmetic Act found by the Secretary of the Treasury, after due notice and opportunity for public hear ing, to have an addiction-forming or addiction-sustaining liability -similar to morphine or cocaine, and proclaimed by the President to have been so found by the Secretary.

AND W HEREAS the Secretary of the Treasury, after due notice and oppor tunity for public hearing, has found that each of the following named drugs has addiction-forming or addictionsustaining liability similar to morphine, and that in the public interest this find ing should be effective immediately:
-6-dimethylamino-4,4-diphenyl - 3 - acetoxyheptane alpha-acetylmethadol.
-6-dimethylamino-4,4-diphenyl -3 - heptanol alpha-methadol.
-6-dimethylamino-4,4-diphenyl - 3 - acetoxyheptane beta-acetylmethadol.
3-Dim ethylam ino-l,l-di-2-thienyl -1 -b u tene.
3-Ethylmethylamino-l,l-d i-2 -t h i e n y 1 -1 butene.

NOW, THEREFORE, I, D W IG H T D.
EISENHOWER, President o f the United States of America, do hereby proclaim that the Secretary o f the Treasury has iound that each of the aforementioned nigs has an addiction-forming or addic tion-sustaining liability similar to morPhine, and that in the public interest this r!ing sk uld be effective immediately.

e Frozen concentrated orange juice packed in metal containers or suitable plastic pouches shall meet the require ments of U. S. Grade A, Style I or Style II, as defined in United States Stand ards for Grades of Frozen Concentrated Orange Juice, effective September 23, 1950.
f Frozen concentrated blended grapefruit and orange juice packed in metal containers or suitable plastic pouches shall meet the requirements of U. S. Grade A, Style I or Style II, as de fined in United States Standards fo r Grades o f Frozen Concentrated Blend ed Grapefruit Juice and Orange Juice, effective December 10,1951.

Effective date. This amendment shall become effective at 12:01 a. m., e. d. t., June 19, 1953.
