By virtue of and pursuant to the au thority vested in me by section 10 of the act of June 16, 1942, Public Law 607, 77th Congress, I hereby prescribe the fol lowing regulations governing the grant
ing of 1 allowances for quarters and subsistence to enlisted men of the Army, Navy, Marine Corps, Coast Guard, Coast and Geodetic Survey, and Public Health Service who are not furnished quarters or rations in kind, and 2 allowances for quarters to enlisted men of the first, second, and third grades in the active, military, naval, or Coast Guard service of the United States having dependents as defined in section 4 of the said act, for periods during which public quarters are not provided and available for such dependents:

N ote l. Upon arrival a t ot departure from a station where allowances for subsistence are paid, allowances shall be computed as follows: The day to begin at m idnight; for 18 hours or more a t the station, one whole day; for 12 hours or more b u t less th an 18 hours a t th e station, two-thirds of one day; for 6 hours or more but less th a n 12 hours at the sta tion, one-third of one day. No allowance t o subsistence shall be paid for the day on which a m an arrives a t a station after 6 oclock P ; M.
N ote 2. In determining the allowance for quarters a fractional part of a day shall be computed as a whole day. the day to begin a t m idnight.
