and July 7 recommending a revision of the description of the W ind R iver Moun tain Roadless Area established by De partmental Order No. 486, dated October 25, 1937.1
You state that the description o f the area as set forth in the order and shown on the map does not conform to the boundaries as established in the field by Mr. Robert Marshall, form er Director o f Forestry, Mr. George M. Nyce, Regional Forester, and yourself. You also direct attention to the fact that the boundaries as now defined include accessible timber resources required by the Indians fo r fuel and timber products; and embrace a ranger station, existing roads and other improvements.
An examination of the record indi cates that the description as set forth in the order was not definite with re spect to the north boundary of the area;
and that as a result thereof a straight line was projected on the map between the most northerly points on the east and west boundaries, instead of passing through Bold Mountain as intended.
Accordingly the description of the boundaries of the W ind R iver Mountain Roadless Area is hereby amended to read as follows:
Starting at the south Yt corner of Sec tion 22, T . 2 S., R. 3 W ., on the south boundary of the diminished W ind River Reservation; thence northerly approxi 8 P. R. 708 DI.

mately Y2 m ile to Hobbs Peak; thence in a northerly direction along the divide between Moccasin Creek and Sand Creek to the Yt com er between Sections 28 and 33, T. 1 S., R. 3 W .; thence north 1 mile to the Yt com er between Sections 21 and 28; thence west 2Y& miles to the south west com er o f Section 19, T. 1 S., R.
3 W .; thence north along range line to the W ind River base line; thence west along base line 1 m ile to the southwest com er of Section 36, T. 1 N., R. 4 W .;
thence north 10 Ys miles to the Yt corner of Sections 11 and 12, T. 2 N., R, 4 W .;
thence west 6 Y2 miles to the center of Section 11, T . 2 N., R. 5 W .; thence on a straight line in a northwesterly direction to the top o f Bold Mountain; thence on a straight line in northwesterly direction to the point where the north line of Sec tion 15, T. 4 N., R. 6 W ., intersects the western boundary of the reservation;
thence south, southeasterly and east along the reservation boundary to point of beginning.
Reference to the description of the boundaries as amended and the map which is attached h ereto 2 w ill disclose the fact that the change recommended by your office in the east boundary of the area in Townships 1 and 2 South, Range 3 West, has also been authorized and that it now follows the well defined ridge which passes through Sections 22, 15, 9 and 4, T. 2 S., R. 3 W .; and Sections 33 and 28, T. 1 S., R . 3 W.
