Finally, with respect to U.S.
producers of electrical components, domestic production has also been displaced by imports, as shown in Figure 22. From 1999 to 2016 latest available data, U.S. production of electrical components declined by 4
percent while U.S. demand grew
steadily, with the result that imports captured all of the growth in overall U.S. demand.114 In 1999, imports of electrical components represented 29
percent of U.S. demand by value, 115
and by 2016, imports grew to 56 percent of U.S. demand by value. 116 Further, American-owned producers sourced
