ACTION: Notice of open public hearing.
AGENCY:

Notice is hereby given of the following hearing of the U.S.-China Economic and Security Review Commission. The Commission is mandated by Congress to investigate, assess, and report to Congress annually on the national security implications of the economic relationship between the United States and the Peoples Republic of China. Pursuant to this mandate, the Commission will hold a public hearing in Washington, DC on February 18, 2021
on Deterring Peoples Republic of China Aggression Toward Taiwan.
DATES: The hearing is scheduled for Thursday, February 18, 2021, 10:30 a.m.

SUPPLEMENTARY INFORMATION:
Background: This is the second public hearing the Commission will hold during its 2021 report cycle. The hearing will evaluate the state of deterrence across the Taiwan Strait and its implications for U.S. interests. The first panel will examine the political considerations informing Beijings willingness to use force against Taiwan and those informing Taipeis response.
